Designed for commercial applications

Our Leaf Eater Commercial Rain Head is made from polypropylene, incorporates a 0.955mm stainless steel mesh screen and can handle high flow rates up to 20 litres per second. Its versatile outlet allows for installation using a flexible coupling or directly into both 150mm DWV and pressure pipe.

Rain Heads filter leaves and debris out of your downpipes with their 955 micron screens. They also minimise splashing to increase the volume of rainwater you harvest.

Rain Heads secure the system with the 955 micron mosquito-proof screens that prevent insects and other animals from entering and breeding or living in your downpipes.

Product Installation

Installation

Gutter, Eave & “Mid” Mount

  1. Locate the position at which you will be installing your Leaf Eater Commercial rain head. Whether this is directly under your eave or midway down your downpipe, it should be a minimum of 500mm above your tank inlet and tank overflow pipe.
  2. Cut and bracket your bottom downpipe to the wall, being sure to offset it 30mm from the wall, if it isn’t already offset.
  3. Insert your Leaf Eater Commercial rain head into the pipe and mark the top and bottom flange fastening holes. Remove your rain head and prepare the necessary fastening points. Then reinsert your rain head and fasten it to the wall, ensuring it’s adequately supported by the wall structure.
  4. Cut your upper pipe at a similar angle to the rain head screen and allow a minimum of 50mm offset for debris clearance.

Maintenance

Your rain head’s Clean Shield™ screen is mostly self-cleaning. However, it is prudent to periodically inspect it to check if cleaning is necessary.

If cleaning is required, it may be easier to remove the screen via the 5 securing screws in order to do so.

Painting

The Leaf Eater Commercial rain head is made from polypropylene and can be painted to suit its surrounds if required. The recommended procedure for painting the rain head is as follows:

  1. Remove the screen from the rain head body via the 5 securing screws. Clean both the screen and the body using a gentle cleaner such as sugar soap. Afterwards, wipe both items down with a wax and grease remover using a lint-free cloth.
  2. Mask off the stainless steel mesh of the screen using painters tape so that paint does not obstruct the water flowing through the mesh.
  3. Apply an even coat of plastic primer. This will assist the paint sticking to the rain head.
  4. Once the primer coat is dry, apply your desired top coat colour. Multiple top coats can be applied if required.
  5. Replace the screen.
